Hurray! It is NATIONAL BIBLE WEEK and I’ve got some big announcements coming your way! Did you know there is a whole week each year dedicated to celebrating the Bible? We didn’t until recently, but we sure love the idea! We decided to celebrate by sharing 5 fun Bible facts your probably didn’t know!
The Bible is something to be celebrated because it is the word of God. It is a gift: The Bible tells us how much God loves us and it gives us the ultimate story of redemption (and everyone likes redemption stories).
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the woman of God may be complete, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Most of us know these things, but I have some fun facts that you may NOT know about the Bible. Actually, I asked my Bible-whiz husband to come up with them for you, but since we are one, I’ll claim the recognition. 😉
FUN BIBLE FACTS #1:
There is a whole chapter in the Old Testament written by the king of the world. King Nebuchadnezzar wrote chapter 4 of Daniel praising God when everything was restored to him after he went beast mode (verse 33) for being proud. All of Daniel is pretty awesome, but chapter 4 is very interesting.
FUN BIBLE FACTS #2:
Did you know there is a prophecy in Isaiah 46 about a king pooping his pants? It is fulfilled in Daniel. Yeah, that is pretty weird.
FUN BIBLE FACTS #3:
For you star gazers out there, there are only two stars in our galaxy that are known to be bound by gravitational pull: Pleiades and Orion. We only learned about this in the last 30 years. However, Job 38:31 talks about the how these stars have “bonds and chains” (gravitational pull), and that was written over 3,000 years ago! Wow, the Bible is CCOOOOLLL.
FUN BIBLE FACTS #4:
In Luke 22:44, while Jesus was on the Mount of Olives praying before the Crucifixion, the Bible says that Jesus’ sweat became like great drops of blood. Doctors have found that people under EXTREME stress can literally sweat blood (the capillaries burst in their face); it is called Hematohidrosis. There is a high probability that this happened to Jesus.
FUN BIBLE FACTS #5:

The Magi in the Christmas story (the guys who brought gold, myrrh, and frankincense) were the king makers of the day. We picture them as wealthy, educated men but they were also military men. It is likely that an entire military procession accompanied them and through the streets of Jerusalem (which could have been perceived as an act of war). This would bring some clarification to Matthew 2:3 as to why King Herod and all of Jerusalem were troubled.
The Bible is pretty awesome, isn’t it? I know a lot of you struggle with believing the Bible is truth, so you might not think it is awesome. You might doubt a lot of what the Bible talks about.
I know there are naysayers trying to disprove the validity of the Bible.
There is one thing you have to understand: the Bible is not understood with a mind that is not submitted to God.
Understanding the Bible is a spiritual thing and a “carnal” mind will not see how scripture is God breathed. They will not see how it is so intertwined and consistent. Or how accurately its prophecy is.
I could sit here for the rest of my life answering the naysayers questions, whether sincere or flippant, and barely scratch the surface. Instead, if you are struggling with the Bible’s validity, can I ask you to do one thing? Please read Proverbs 3:5-8 and take it to heart.
Peace and love to y’all,
Amanda
